Palomacy Pigeon and Dove Adoptions is so thankful to be here saying, Yes, we can help! Palomacy helps birds every day by assisting the confused good Samaritans, concerned bird guardians, busy shelter staff, stretched wildlife rehabbers, and virtually anyone seeking to save a pigeon or dove in trouble. Through our phone line, Email, online Help Group, huge website, social media accounts, hundreds of volunteers and two full time staff, Palomacy provides hands-on support for Northern Californians and coaching, referrals and partnerships for inquirers from all over the country and internationally too. And we do all of this free of charge because, as you know, birds, wondrous as they are, still do not have pockets.
How are we able to do all this rescuing and fostering and healing and advocacy and humane education and teaching and adopting? We have to raise $240,000 annually to do all that we are doing. (And that’s not counting all the program expenses offset by the free labor and in-kind donations of fosters and volunteers!) We depend on our 1,001 donors to contribute every one of those 240,000 dollars.
Wait, one thousand and one? Yes! Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist and of Craig Newmark Philanthropies is singular in our count as he is the most hard-working, far-reaching, freedom-protecting, security-generating, justice-seeking, bird-nerdiest philanthropist on Team Palomacy as well as our single biggest donor.
For the past eleven years, bird lover Craig Newmark has supported Palomacy, helping us to fulfill our special mission, most recently with a critically important grant of $25,000 awarded to us December 21, 2023. When we came asking for another grant, thanks to his uncommon generosity and wild ability to multi-task, Craig Newmark said Yes! THANK YOU CRAIG NEWMARK! Palomacy is here today, saying Yes to Charlie and all these birds plus many, many more because of it!
